
February, 2013 Athletics Update
Intramurals
Congratulations to team # 3 members Garrett, Davy, Richard, Ben,
Medardo, Nico, Josh, Joel, Keenan, Tobi and Kyle who topped off an
undefeated season by beating Team 2 in the final to lay claim to and
become the Dodge Ball Intramural Champions. The next intramural
activity will be team handball, which will be played with 5 players on
the court at any given time. Get teams into Mr. Domstad by Wednesday,
March 6th.
SV Girls Basketball
The Girls basketball team keeps hold of their #4 ASAA Provincial
Ranking this month. This past month, the girls placed 2nd in a
tournament in Sundre, 4th in their first ever Sweet 16 tournament at
home, 1st in their Tournament at Central High in Sedgewick and 1st in
their Tournament in Three Hills. The girls ended up 2nd in the
CISAA League and are into playoff competition this week.
Gr. 9 Girls Basketball
The grade 9 girls basketball team won their tournament at Hunting Hills
in Red Deer beating Lindsey Thurber by 2 in the final. The girls
ended up 2nd in the CISAA.
SV Boys Basketball
The senior varsity boys basketball team have had a very successful
month of February. They have continued their strong league play
beating provincially ranked CCS and Webber to finish the season with a
record of 7 wins and one loss. Senior night was celebrated
February 25 before the CCS game. Dave Braakman, Dilmeet Sidhu,
Garrett Copp, Tobi Odufeso and Joel Lindsay were all honored before the
game. Thank you to our seniors for your commitment to our program
over the years. The team finished 2nd in league play and heads
into league playoffs playing Webber in the semi-finals. The team
competed in 3 tournaments, one in Lethbridge, one in Lloydminister and
one in Condor. Rundle finished 2nd in both the Lloydminister
tournament and the David Thompson tournament in Condor. Rundle is
ranked 4th in the Province heading into playoffs. Good luck to
the team on their playoff run.
JV Boys Basketball
The junior varsity boys basketball team has had a good month of
February. They competed a tournament in Lethbridge early in the
month losing a close last game to a tough Bowness High School
team. The team beat Calgary Academy and lost two close games to
Webber and FFCA. The JV boys will finish 3rd in league play and
have a match up against FFCA in the first round of playoffs next
week. Good luck the the team in their playoff run.

Rundle Fitness Centre Upgraded Thanks to Parks
Foundation Calgary
Our Rundle College 17th Ave.
campus was very fortunate to receive a grant of $10,000.00
towards upgrades in our Fitness Centre from the Parks Foundation
Calgary and Amateur Sport Fund. This foundation has been very
generous in supporting our efforts to provide an excellent
fitness facility over the last 6 years. Upgrades will include a
new treadmill, bikes, elliptical, bench, mats, dumbbells, racks
and other supplementary equipment. Our fitness facility is very
well used by students, athletes and faculty and this upgrade
will help to maintain an excellent and safe training space for
all our Rundle community. Thank you, again, to the Parks
Foundation Calgary and Amateur Sport Fund for their outstanding
support and generosity.
